The Woman Behind the Mission

Courageous leadership that continues to inspire change.

During a time marked by fear and stigma, Susan Terry stepped forward to support people affected by HIV with dignity, courage and compassion.

Her work helped establish one of the first comprehensive HIV care clinics in Sarasota and shaped the organization that became CAN Community Health.

The Foundation carries that legacy forward by addressing the barriers that influence health, stability and opportunity. HIV remains an important part of our mission, while our work also recognizes the many interconnected factors that shape a person’s ability to thrive.
